We have the Kritter Ikea bed, with the dog and cat sillhouettes in the head board, and we love it. DSs room is quite small, so it works from that aspect, but he's very comfortable in it too. You do need to buy Ikea fitted sheets but I use full size duvets and tuck the end under at the bottom. We took the view that extending beds are so expensive, better to get a reasonable toddler bed and then a decent full size one that will go the course.
